Bev is a Melbourne-based botanical artist, and has a keen interest in the natural environment and travel. Her husband, Ross Penny, passed away in March 2011.
Bev and Ross both have a strong empathy with rural life - Bev was raised in the Western District of Victoria and Ross lived and worked in rural Victoria.
Bev’s artistic interest is primarily in botanic art. Her primary media are pencil, pen and ink and watercolour, and her favourite subjects include quirky and unusual plants. Her artistic association with Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens inspires much of her artwork.
Ross photographed in film, slide and digital media, but in the early 2000s concentrated on digital photography. His preferred subjects were the natural environment, travel and people photography. Many images were captured while participating in community-based projects.
